DESCRIPTION
Latvian vibraphonist's Miķelis Dzenuška debut album on Jersika Records together with his seven-piece band Uzvaras Bulvāris. The concept and musical material of the album was created in 2021, at the height of the pandemic. Inspired by the analog recording style of "Jersika Records", the compositions of the album were also created "analogously" - using a piano, sheet music and a pencil. The idea of the album is to write "Latvian jazz standards" - clear, understandable and easy to remember themes. The music also has a programmatic character - the names of the pieces indicate the content of the piece ("Traffic Junction", "Dance of Sparrows", "Ice Flower", etc.). In the form and content of the compositions, there are references to the works of American jazz greats - Miles Davis ("Relaxin' with the Miles Davis Quintet", "Bitches Brew"), Wayne Shorter ("Night Dreamer"), The Brecker Brothers ("The Brecker Bros'" ) as well as Latvian jazz greats Gunārs Rozenbergs ("Laura") and Egīls Straume ("Fiesta").
